The European Green Deal sets the objective of climate neutrality by 2050, with an intermediate phase by 2030 with gas emissions at least 55% lower than 1990. To achieve this objective, the European Commission has decided to adopt an industrial strategy "Net-Zero Industry Act" to improve the competitiveness of European industry to facilitate the transition towards climate neutrality and reduce Europe's high dependence on imports and individual suppliers of zero-emission technologies. The plan's goal is for the global strategic production of technologies that support the energy transition and reduce emissions to reach at least 40% diffusion by 2030.
One of the pillars of the Net-Zero Industrial Act concerns the improvement of skills for a green transition with the aim of supporting the competitiveness and resilience of the EU industry by looking at decarbonisation as one of the drivers for growth, through the diffusion of renewables, energy efficiency interventions and the promotion of technological innovations.
Having said this, GR.A.N.D. Academy has established a Scientific Committee, chaired by Prof. Livio De Santoli - Pro-Rector for Sustainability of La Sapienza University and made up of expert professionals with interdisciplinary skills, coming from the academic, institutional, entrepreneurial and consultancy world, to ensure excellent training and the development of a training proposal for a new efficient and low-carbon business model and developed a course "The industrial and economic benefits of decarbonisation" capable of responding to the growing demand from companies to develop the right skills to in order to address the threats deriving from ongoing climate change and reduce the physical and economic impacts on the production system through the opportunities deriving from the adoption and use of renewable technologies, the adoption of circular economy models, the use of energy efficiency, the rational use of resources through innovation and digitalisation, greener and more sustainable agriculture with a short food chain, smart mobility and sustainable and low-emission construction, the responsible and efficient use of water resources and the use of artificial intelligence in an ethical manner and responsible for an energy, digital and decarbonisation transition process.
This development model entails undoubted advantages on the efficiency of production processes and reduction of operating costs and improvement of environmental impact, with reduction of energy costs and carbon footprint, increased competitiveness on the markets and attractiveness for talent, improved resilience to climate change, with undoubted positive effects on the company's image among customers, investors and partners and improved credit access ratings.
